Watch this and you’ll put down your phone for rest of the day

I am guilty of this, so seeing this made me sad.

I’m going to try to change my habits — for my family, my friends, and myself. How about you?

Susan Sontag wrote that taking photographs of an experience during that experience, prevents us from actually being present while the event is happening – preventing us from fully living that moment, and even potentially being able to remember it for ourselves later. She wrote about this back in the 70’s, before we had smart phones. So how are you living your life now?

My idea: when out with friends or family for a meal or drinks, everyone puts their phones into a pile (or a bag for safe keeping), first person to reach for their phone gets the bill. Problem solved.
