In this photo series we present you some very creative and amazing pictures from dogs, which are actually available for adoption. Most of these dogs did not enjoy a very happy life. However, at least their current situation can be improved by providing them with a new and loving home.
Sarolta Bán, the photographer of this series, understood the problem of dogs living in shelters and decided to improve their chances to find a new home by creating these creative photos. The dogs are presented in a whole new lighting, which might spark the interest of a potential adopter.
Moreover, in this context one should also highlight the root of the problem, which is pet overpopulation. According to the American Humane Association two factors cause pet overpopulation “allowing cats and dogs to reproduce with little chance to find homes for the offspring and pets being relinquished by owners who can no longer keep their animals, or who no longer want them”. Admittedly, this is not a problem caused by the pets themselves, but this is a problem caused by humans. After all, numerous breeders aim to achieve financial gains and humans tend to adopt pets without knowing the real responsibilities.
6 to 8 million cats and dogs are entering shelters each year and 2.7 million cats and dogs are euthanized annually in shelters only in the U.S. So almost half of the shelter dogs and cats are killed each year, just because they could not find a new home. So next you want to adopt a new pet, you might want to check out your local animal shelter.
