Known as the Danish combo “Wumo”, Mikael Wulff and Anders Morgenthaler created these amusing and challenging graphs, which illustrate facts about our everyday life. Mikael Wulff is the writer in the team and Anders Morgenthaler is the cartoon artist. The name Wumo is a combination from the pair’s surnames and has created quite some hype throughout the years.
The rise of “Wumo” began in 2001, where they won a comic strip competition and the opportunity to publish their work in the Danish national newspaper “Politiken”. Even though this was limited to only one month, they achieved to get a regular feature in the Politiken through internet popularity. Moreover, when looking at these Graphs, one can understand this phenomenon.
Since 2012 their work is also published daily on Die Welt (Germany), Helsingin Sanomat (Finland), Aftonbladet (Sweden), Dagbladet (Norway), De Telegraaf (Holland) and their own website, wumo.com. Wumo’s work is also published in the United States in newspapers such as the Washington Post (2013), New York Daily News (2013) and the New York Times (2014).
